Steve Brookes is a fun and charismatic gardening presenter & author. His enthusiastic approach and subtle humour blend with his extensive horticultural knowledge to make the subject rich and inspiring. Novice and experienced gardeners alike are informed and entertained as Steve introduces them to innovative ideas to make gardening enjoyable and rewarding.

Steve is a respected gardening authority, much sought after for his advice & expertise, and is a popular, local gardening broadcaster. He currently presents a lively, very popular, weekly gardening show on BBC Radio, which won him the very prestigious Garden Media Guild award for the Best Radio Gardening Programme. He can also be seen broadcasting and presenting on stage around the country at the top gardening shows and he writes regularly for the gardening press. Steve has also been a presenter of Central TV’s Gardening Time programme and has won a coveted Royal Television Society Award for his Channel 4 series Growing Plants.

Steve appears at many of the major gardening events around the UK, and on cruise ships across the world, with his entertaining and informative talks. In his ‘The Greatest Gardening Tips in the World’ show he wows audiences with a wicker basket full of everyday household items with which Steve reveals a whole host of amazing problem-solving ideas for the garden! These tips, gathered over 35 years of gardening, include ways to banish slugs & snails, aphids, cats and squirrels etc…, plus many other fun ideas to make gardening more enjoyable and rewarding.

Steve also gives a very amusing ‘An Audience With Steve Brookes’ talk in which he regales the audience with anecdotes of his life in horticulture and broadcasting - from the early days of gardening with his granddad in the early 1960s to the present day, working as a gardening presenter on TV and BBC radio. Lots of funny twists & turns and a smattering of the gardening tips he has gathered along the way make this a highly entertaining talk!

• ‘Raindrops On Roses….’ – These are a few of his favourite things – and not just roses either! A selection of Steve’s favourite plants for various areas of the garden and to give interest during the different seasons of the year. Covering climbers, scented plants, shade-lovers, winter flowers and wildlife attracting plants. There are some real gems!

• ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’ –The opportunity to ask Steve all those gardening questions that have been bothering you for years. Steve puts his reputation on the line with just him, a microphone and an audience full of gardening troubles! Will he be able to solve them all? You’ll just have to wait and see.

• ‘Who Wants To Be A Gardenaire?!’– Steve’s very own gardening version of the popular TV quiz game and by kind permission of Celador Productions. Be prepared to have loads of fun whilst at the same time learning some interesting gardening facts. Steve is available to give talks to a wide range of groups including horticultural societies, gardening clubs, WI, Rotary, Round Table and Inner wheel.  He is also a brilliant after dinner speaker and voice-over artist.
